support the Australian government’s planned overhaul of apprentice support measures, recently announced by the Minister for Skills and Training Brendan O’Connor. The plan outlines a new service model that places apprentices at the centre and provides them with better support from the commencement to the completion of their training.
Chief Executive Officer of NAEN, Dianne Dayhew, said the measures are urgently needed to stop the attrition of apprentices that is contributing to the nation’s skills shortage at a time when thousands of new entrants are needed across many industries.
Construction Training Fund has announced a $4.2m initiative that aims to encourage apprenticeship completion to ensure more fully qualified trades in the construction industry.

The ACG is easy to access and will be paid directly to apprentices as an incentive for completing training.
The repayment will help apprentices and trainees afford the correct tools and equipment needed to on the construction site.
